Wedding Registry Wording

By Sara Margulis, CEO & Founder

Not sure how to tell your wedding guests about your gift preferences? Wondering if your honeymoon registry will seem tacky? No worries! Just follow our simple tips for proper registry wording.

Wedding Invitations Wording

There is only one important point to remember about registry wording in your wedding invitation: Don't mention registries in your wedding invitation! Your wedding website, your shower invitation, and word of mouth are the only proper places to share this information.

Wedding Website Registry Wording

Most wedding website services provide a registry tab, where you can list all your registries and post a message to your guests. (If you don't have a wedding website, your Honeyfund can serve this purpose! Add all your wedding details, here.)

When addressing your guests, say it from the heart. Remember, your registry wording will be read by your closest family and friends, the ones who want to celebrate you with a gift you will enjoy!

Here are some examples:

1. Be creative with a poem!

FOR A HONEYMOON LIST

We know it's not traditional,
It's not the way it's done,
Instead of a wedding list,
We'd like a bit of sun.

We've lived together quite a while,
And all the bills are paid.
We've got our plates, our pots and pans
Our plans have all been made.

So if you'd like to give a gift
To help us celebrate
Something towards our "honeyfund"
We would appreciate!

FOR A HOME IMPROVEMENT LIST

They have their dishes and towels for two
They have pots and pans and oven mits too
So what do you get for the bride and groom
Whose house is setup in every room?

Their house needs repairs and some upgrades, too
But you cannot register for carpet and glue.
A honeyfund list is the way to go
So lets make it easy -- so everyone knows.
A wish list we offer for those who so choose,
To give a unique gift to the bride and groom

2. Try a simple yet funny approach...

We're "pushed to the wall" with so much at home, how about a gift for our honeymoon?

3. ...or a more customary statement

We are very grateful to have everything we need for our home together. So in lieu of traditional housewares we hope you enjoy browsing our "experience" registry!

Shower Invitation Wording

Most registry services, including Honeyfund, offer cards that can be printed and put in with your shower invitation. It's also customary to state very simply:

The bride is registered at:
Honeyfund
Bed, Bath and Beyond
Pottery Barn

Word of Mouth

Immediate family, friends and your wedding party should be ready to spread the word about your registry preferences! Those closest to you are the ones others will ask, so make sure they are in the know. You'll be surprised by the power of good old-fashioned word of mouth.
